Hi Everyone!

Hope you all had an amazing and relaxing Thanksgiving weekend. I spent the long weekend sleeping in (does 9 a.m. count?) and eating…a lot.

Some highlights include:

  • Watching the sunset in Alamo Square the night before Thanksgiving
  • Having a productive Thanksgiving that included laundry, coffee, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade all before noon
  • Stopping by Epic for their amazing Bay Bubbles special and some brussel sprouts with solid company
  • Quality time with my roommates Rob and Ali. This includes rearranging our family room, cooking together, and buying a tree together!
  • Opting Outside on Black Friday with Brian in Fairfax
  • Exploring San Francisco over the weekend with no lines and no crowds (perfect!)

What did your long weekend look like?

Cheers!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you’re having an amazing week and (hopefully!) a last work day of the week before the holidays.

Like I said before, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. And sure, I’ve done the Black Friday shit before but lately, it’s lost its appeal.

I’ve decided to not shop this Black Friday and take a cue from REI to #OptOutside. So, I thought I’d share some of my favorite SF places to explore!

I hope you spend time with loved ones tomorrow!

Cheers!

Hi all,

I know I shared some of these photos last week, but I seriously can’t get over this outfit. In fact, I’ve been wearing some variation of this for the past two weeks.

If you didn’t check out The Silo at Renegade Craft Fair this past weekend, The Silo, a Bay Area brand specializes in handcrafted bags and jewelry.

And I gotta say – they are AWESOME. I’m obsessed with this one bag and the hardware makes each and every bag ten times more unique and special.

Snag your bag (ha!) and check out The Silo today!

Cheers!

Hi Everyone!

Happy Monday! I’m still feeling a little groggy and sleepy-eyed from my flight to SF last night, but I’m SO excited for the week ahead. A little known secret…this is my FAVORITE time of year. That’s right. Thanksgiving. I mean, are you surprised?

Anyway, if y’all have been following me on Instagram, you’ve seen me post quite a few photos of my trip to New York. I’ll definitely be adding more, but the reason I went was to celebrate my amazing friends Holly and John on their wedding!

It’s such a wonderful feeling seeing my friends grow up, fall in love, live together, kick ass professionally (and personally), and everything in between. This trip to NY was one for the books and for the first time, I didn’t really want to leave.

Some highlights?

  • Multiple trips to Double Dutch Espresso in Harlem. Also, Harlem is the besssssst. ❤
  • Catching up with a few old Ohio University & Vayner friends! Makes my heart so full.
  • Nommed so hard at Ippudo, Rustic Table, and Jacob’s Pickles. SO good.
  • Walked through Central Park too many times and marveled over all the beautiful changing leaves.

Also, a big thank you to Jamie Ratermann for hostin’ my ass for the entire week. You know you have a true blue friend when she isn’t pushing you out the door after a week-long apartment infiltration. Love you, Jam! ❤

How was everyone else’s week? More on my other NY excursions soon!

Cheers!

Aimee

I’ve been in New York for a few days and to be honest, it’s been really nice. I mean, really, really nice.

Okay, yeah…so it’s freezing. Well, if you consider 52 to be arctic. I’ll just say  San Francisco’s 65 degree temps and sunny weather have me a bit spoiled. And yeah, New York is a bit expensive. But like many people say, there’s energy here. There are anxious commuters trying to make it to the office by 9 a.m., angry taxis trying to weave traffic, happy children en route to school, and hustlers makin’ their dream a reality. And even better? Some of my closest friends are scattered throughout this city.

It’s all exciting and new. Much like San Francisco was for me when I first moved there 4 years ago. I knew no one (really), didn’t know my way around, and every experience was just that…an experience.

I always wondered if I made the right decision moving to San Francisco after school and not New York. Social media plays a big part in feeling this way, too. When I scroll through Instagram, I find friends posting the beautiful New York skyline, shenanigans at bars open past 2 a.m., Times Square Madness, and amazing food. It’s hard not to compare.

But, after four years, San Francisco is my home. My safe haven. A place that constantly surprises and excites me. Sure, the bars aren’t open until 2 a.m. and people aren’t always so in a rush. But, in the end…maybe that’s a good thing.

Cheers!

Being in San Francisco, I’m lucky to experience all these amazing, local brands. From Everlane to Freda Salvador, there’s no shortage of inspiration and style. Most recently, I was introduced to The Silo, a Bay Area brand specializing in handcrafted bags and jewelry.

After doing a little more research on the brand, I absolutely fell in love with the special touches Adelle Stoll puts into each piece. Whether it’s a beautiful brass rod that helps close the bag or the thickest wool felt I’ve ever seen, each item makes you feel ten times more special when you’re wearing it.

I think the most special thing about the brand is that they use high-quality materials and for that, it makes all the difference. The bag I’m wearing above uses 5mm thick German felt for its high Green standards and they source leather from USA tanneries whenever possible and buy it locally. Keeping with the local theme, they also handcraft the brass rod hardware in their studio store in Windsor.

It’s a perfect bag to wear for an early coffee sesh (what I was doing when this photo was taken!) and can seriously hold the majority of my life’s contents.

Along with being a rad brand, The Silo has officially partnered with Becoming Independent in Santa Rosa to have their crew help out with the production of their bags and to include them in the community!

Want to learn more? Check out The Silo here. Also, if you’re in SF this weekend, Adelle will be showcasing her Fall 2015 line at Renegade Craft Fair!

Cheers!
