It’s been a year

Hi Everyone!

Well, it’s been a year, guys. I’m so excited for what’s to come but first – a recap on 2014 (a day early, this I know!)

Made trips to Chicago, Jenner, Athens, Columbus, New York City, and more!

About to celebrate almost 2 years of blogging! Wild to think!

Met so many amazing bloggers, photographers, women, companies, you name it. Blogging has opened my eyes to so many other interests, avenues, and opportunities. For that, i’m forever grateful!

Ended relationships, started relationships, ended some more, and well…started some more. While it may seem like “a lot” i’ll have to be honest, it was. But, one thing I will always tell myself: “Trust your gut. Always.”

Push yourself. Whether it’s with a new activity, meeting new people, etc. Try it out, make yourself uncomfortable. Because if you’re not uncomfortable, you’re not growing. I’m applying this to my life and doing my half-marathon in February!

Be kind and say yes. More and more, i’ve found myself becoming more mellow. It may be San Francisco, but always be nice to others and if someone asks you to do an activity – do it. Running in Golden Gate Park? Yes! Last minute tickets to see a concert? Hell yeah! In the words of Nike…just do it.

Eat good food. I’ve gone to a shit ton of restaurants, y’all. A few of my favorites include: The Progress, Nopa, Plow, Domo, and Outerlands!

Have fun. Smile. Be a badass. Work hard, party equally as hard (within reason) and enjoy the moment. Always enjoy the moment.

Cheers!

Hi Everyone!

Happy Monday! I hope y’all had a great holiday and even better holiday aftermath – this includes but is not limited to: going on a eating frenzy with holiday leftovers, attempting to go shopping and uncover some “sales” only to find everything is now 3 sizes too big, falling asleep at 10:30 p.m. from all the craziness, etc. The list goes on, so i’ll spare you. This just happened to be me.

I got back into San Francisco late Saturday evening. Traveling can be a little crazy, but luckily I am a pretty mellow traveler and just slept the entire way (woo!) Sunday was spent for waking up early, exploring Hayes Valley a bit, and getting brunch.

Also, trekking to Union Square for the ZARA sale. You guys know how addicted I am, right? Also stopped by Warby Parker in Hayes Valley to get a new pair of Huxley’s and be on my merry way. It was a great way to cap the weekend.

That and going to The Progress. According to Eater SF, it’s San Francisco’s “hottest new ticket.” And well, me and my foodie friends decided to go. And shit, the wait wasn’t that bad. Stand in line at 4:45, get a reservation at 8 and figure out how to occupy your time in between then. Luckily, there’s a variety of options around the Fillmore and we snacked on a cheese plate to curb our hunger pangs.

For y’all that haven’t heard, The Progress is State Bird Provisions little sister. Everything at The Progress is family-style and you can choose from 6 courses to 7. I have to say, 6 is fairly enough for a group of 3 or 4. There’s a lot of options and a lot of depth in the food, so come hungry.

It’s been open 10 or 11 days so far, so GO. Don’t walk, run to The Progress. Your belly will be happy.

Until tomorrow!

Cheers!

Hi Everyone!

Hope you had a brilliant holiday! For me, I had a great one filled with carbs, beer, and a lot of reading. It was perfect. Speaking of perfect, I can’t get over this odd combination. Turtleneck + dress + vest – pretty damn cute, right?

There’s a lot to be said about a statement dress – especially a statement dress in red. I think the turtleneck tones it down a bit, adds some quirk to the look and topped with a vest, makes the entire thing look chic and super badass.

Am I right?

Cheers!

Hi Everyone!

Happy Christmas Eve! I hope you’re having a great day – hopefully with family and friends!

First off, I absolutely love, love, love this combination. Cozy knit sweater + faux leather skirt. SO easy and looks *fairly* pulled together.

Top it off with this amazing Iristocracy Brooklyn Bag that has a little bit of edge with the woven paneling and you’re good to go for brunch with friends or, well…taking a walk around Kent State University with Buddy. He was being a bit of a bitch on this walk, if I must be honest. Love him anyway.

More on Friday, but until then…

Cheers!

Hi Everyone!

Happy Tuesday. Get that last minute shopping in yet? For me, I haven’t even started so not only do I feel like a major procrastinator, I need to start preparing for the shit show (yes, you heard me) that will be shopping on Christmas Eve.

I did it to myself, right? Anyway, being back home in Ohio has been amazing thus far. It’s a bit chilly, but I can’t complain – I only packed sweaters so my SF outfits even work in Midwest weather. The glory!

Along with being home, I get to spend it with my two favorite people – my parents. Since i’m an only child, this often times leaves me with a bit of guilt since I live across the country. Luckily for them, they’ve found another child (in furry form) with our Miniature Schnauzer puppy named Buddy. He made an appearance last Christmas on the blog, but he’s damn cute. And fuzzy. Let’s just say he looks like the old man from the movie “Up” but with a lot more hair. Everywhere.

Annnnnd, since i’m not in San Francisco…I have to improvise on photographers. I’ve found so many talented photographers in the city (like my girls Tory & Jennymay and of course, Scott) already and always looking to collaborate with more. So, what’s a girl to do when she’s back home and has no go-to photogs?

Well, she asks her mom.

Good thing my mom is a great sport about a lot of things. So, her handiwork is above. And to be honest, for her first time…she’s not half bad. She even mentioned rule of thirds!! Look at that.

Cheers!

Hi Everyone!

I hope everyone is having a great beginning of the week! I’m back in Ohio and feeling so excited for the next week ahead! I can’t wait for plenty of rest and good food – a perfect time to be home, eh?

One wakeup call coming back to Ohio? The weather. I must say, we’re pretty spoiled in San Francisco.

The past week was great and a fabulous way to close out 2014. On Monday, I indulged in my two favorite things – beer and cheese. Surprisingly, I have never been to Mission Cheese until Monday, but i’m so damn happy I did. The idea was that each beer had it’s own cheese pairing. Unfortunately, my love of cheese got the best of me and I ate all the varieties before the second round of beer. Oops!

Wednesday was spent celebrating Sarah’s birthday at Source, went ice skating with the Vayner gang on Thursday. It was definitely a pretty ideal week.

Cheers!

Thankful Thursday

Hi Everyone!

Happy Thursday! There’s a few things i’ve super thankful and stoked for coming in the next few days.

Here’s just a few:

  • Nommin’ hard with no regrets at SOMA StrEAT Food. I mean, that burger tho.
  • Celebrating Sarah’s birthday last night at the delicious veggie restaurant Source!
  • Traveling to Ohio on SATURDAY!!!
  • Attempting to make a good pot of coffee (i’m still working on it)
  • Walking to work in the rain to save money on bus fare. Ended up a little wet, but happy that I saved that $2.25. What can I say, i’m cheap.
  • Ice skating with my co-workers!
  • Reading my newly purchased McSweeney’s in bed at 10 p.m. I’m a grandma and proud.
  • Finding little gems in San Francisco like Fig & Thistle!
  • Spending time sleeping, eating, and celebrating with family!
  • Oh yeah, Dunkin Donuts.

Cheers!
