To The New Year

Hi Everyone!

Happy Tuesday and of course, New Year’s Eve!! There’s a lot i’m thankful for and as always — 2013 has turned out to be a pretty stellar year. 2013 has been the year of learning, i’d say. I’ve learned a lot. It’s always kind of refreshing as I believe this happens every few years or so. I’ve learned a lot about myself, what I can do, what I can’t do, moving on and of course, moving forward.

It’s crazy to think how much shit you go through in a year, eh? Anyway, I have a few resolutions for 2014 but i’m looking forward to sharing those with you well…in the new year. I did, however, want to share a bit from one person who has taught me a crazy amount about happiness, living in the moment and being an absolutely amazing friend — my roomie Andi!

Here’s the few resolutions she shared on her blog from an article she stumbled upon:

1. Stop posting negative sh*t about celebrities on social media. Miley Cyrus does not care what you think about her haircut, Justin Bieber does not care what you think of his tattoos and Gwyneth Paltrow couldn’t care less regarding what you think about her diet.

2. Stop resenting yourself for drunk texting your ex. Sure, its a little embarrassing, but at least you’re addressing your feelings. Not that you should aim to drink an entire bottle of rum then see what happens, but… roll with the punches.

3. Leave the country. If you don’t have money, look into doing charity work abroad. Some programs will sponsor you.

4. If you hate your job, quit your job. Repeat after me: THE MONEY IS NOT WORTH IT. Food and shelter are clutch though, so make sure you have another job lined up.

5. Stop beating yourself up for skipping the gym on days you truly didn’t have time. But also, stop skipping the gym on days you had plenty of time to go.

6. Make up — not to be confused with make out — with an ex.

7. Rid yourself of enemies. Apologize for what you did wrong and forgive those who have wronged you.

8. Rid yourself of “frenemies.” Don’t spend 2014 surrounded by people you secretly despise.

9. If you think somebody is cute, say “hi” and introduce yourself. Every relationship you have ever had started with a greeting.

10. Leave your phone number for someone. Worst-case scenario: you won’t get a call and maybe you’ll feel a tiny bit embarrassed. Regardless of the outcome, you put yourself out there and probably made the other person’s day.

11. Stop caring about how many people “like” your Instagram photos. If you like the photo enough to post it, what else matters? Social media anxiety is a waste of time.

12. Cross something off your bucket list. Sky dive, bungee jump, scuba dive, etc. Don’t make excuses as to why you can’t accomplish something, and check out.

13. Stop hating yourself for eating dessert. A piece of birthday cake is a right, not a privilege.

14. Keep a journal. It doesn’t have to be something you use daily, but documenting your experiences is incredibly important. You’ll appreciate it later.

15. Strengthen relationships with family members. Blood is thicker than water.

16. Help strangers. “Pay it forward,” do good things for the world — and don’t post a Facebook status about it.

17. Conquer a fear. Personally, I fear Bikram yoga.

18. Turn off your smartphone at dinner.

19. Don’t check your Twitter feed when you’re with friends.

20. Try a fashion trend you never thought you could pull off. And, do it with confidence. Floppy hats, snap backs, Harem pants; you can do it!

21. Double-text without fear. THOU SHALL NOT BE IGNORED!

22. Shop locally, eat locally and recognize where your money is going. Consumers control the economy, so visit the mom-and-pop coffee shop down the street instead of Starbucks. Shop at boutiques rather than chains (they aren’t all expensive — trust me). Try Etsy.com instead of retail conglomerates.

23. Cry. When you’re happy and when you’re sad; embrace your emotions as they come.

24. Stop being so shallow. Next time you find yourself judging someone based on his or her appearance, imagine the person standing in front of you saying, “I’m beautiful.” You’ll start to believe it.

25. If you want someone to commit to you, vocalize it. Don’t settle for being someone’s “f*ck buddy” if that isn’t what you want. “Together” is the waiting period between “talking” and “dating”; purgatory shouldn’t last forever.

Can I get an amen for that list? Until tomorrow, have a happy and healthy new years!!

Hi Everyone!

Happy Monday! Back in the city I love — San Francisco! Being back in Ohio was a blast, but i’m so ready to take on the new year. As you can tell, I was pretty busy when I was home but i’m so glad to have set aside some time to see old friends, explore new places, relax with family and eat my bodyweight.

Until tomorrow!

Have any ideas?

Happy Friday and have a kickass weekend!

Hi Everyone!

Happy Thursday! I hope you are well rested and relaxed after yesterday’s festivities! As you might have read yesterday, I met the newest member of the Rancer family — a Miniature Schnauzer named Buddy! He’s still a pup so has A LOT of energy — hence the last photo when he’s pulling me to no end.

It’s been so, so nice being home but DAYUM it’s cold. Living in San Francisco, I think I got spoiled. I’m also on the search for a new hat too — I keep my black, tan and grey on a never ending rotation. : )

Oh yeah, before I forget…that’s a Dunkin Donuts cup of coffee in the third picture. Nothing makes me happier.

Until tomorrow!

Happy Holidays!

SONY DSC

Hi Everyone!

Happy Holidays! Short and sweet post today, but I thought i’d take some time to say what i’m truly thankful for this holiday season. So many things have changed this past year, but I couldn’t be happier with where I am in life. Without further adieu, here we go:

1. First and foremost, the health of my mom! Biggest badass I know.

2. Living in the most gorgeous, refreshing city in the United States — San Francisco.

3. Having a wonderful job that challenges me every day, but also inspires me with the amount of talent and creativity taking place every day.

4. Maintaining solid relationships with my old co-workers who have become some of my very best friends.

5. Keeping in touch with my old college friends (especially my 4 college roommates!) who I have made a point in seeing at least once a year!

6. Finding someone I love who balances me every day, teaches me patience and never backs down to a good adventure.

7. Meeting my new brother — Buddy, a Miniature Schnauzer!

8. Challenging myself professionally and personally — running my first, EVAH 10k. Can a girl get a holler?

9. Coming home to Ohio, spending time with old friends and family and bringing a little SF to OH. I mean, I did make quinoa, tofu and veggies for dinner this week.

10. Starting this blog almost one year ago today. I can’t even begin to imagine how different my life would be without it. I’ve met so many people along the way this year, had the opportunity to attend some amazing events and express myself while still being me. It’s something that i’m truly thankful for and I can’t wait to share the upcoming year with y’all.

Until tomorrow, have a killah Christmas and Happy Holidays!

The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

most wonderful

Hi Everyone!

Happy Tuesday and for y’all who celebrate, Merry Christmas Eve! It’s so, so great to be back in Ohio. I have to tell you.

And of course, i’ve been bringing a little San Francisco to my little hometown. Made tofu, quinoa and veggies tonight for dinner…add a little Red Stripe and i’m straight outta the Bay. Along with some food options, I packed quite a bit of warm weather options for my trip out to Ohio. Seeing as how we’ve had a cold chill in SF the past few weeks, i’ve stocked up on beanies, re-introduced my wardrobe to socks (shrieks!) and cute shift dress, layered with flannel and leather vests.

I have to say, this outfit is DEFINITELY on my wish list this holiday season and a big inspiration for perhaps a New Years Eve outfit. Fancy with a little grunge…just the way I like it.

Until tomorrow!

Hi Y’all!

Hope your Monday is going well! I’m back home in Ohio and couldn’t be happier! Seriously…i’m over the moon. Spent all weekend relaxing, enjoying friends and family and eating WAY too much! Even better, Scotty was able to stop on by to see how the Rancer’s do it in Ohio.

Pretty perfect. How was your weekend?

Until tomorrow!
